Hubby and I attended the Galileo Open Air Cinema screening of Pretty Woman at Rhebokskloof Wine Estate last Saturday. This was our first Galileo Cinema experience. We had bought tickets back in 2013 but the screening was cancelled before the time due to the Cape Town wind (yes the Cape Doctor again). So, we hoped we’d have better luck this time.
As you may have judged by the movie, I chose the screening because which woman can resist the Julia Roberts and Richard Gere classic and the tranquility of the Cape Winelands. I especially chose the Saturday screening because I felt like taking an extended drive to the venue and because sometimes too much emphasis is placed on the movies and not so much the venues. Rhebokskloof is a stunning venue with beautiful gardens and the Paarl mountains in the background. We’ll definitely be going back there for an extended day visit. The food stalls were few but it was definitely quality over quantity as the food and wine were amazing.
The weather started out good – humid with a slight breeze. But midway through the movie, it started picking up so much that the screen collapsed! Needless to say, the show had to be stopped and we were all offered complimentary tickets for another Galileo Cinema movie. So our luck may have been down again but we got to see an amazing venue and hopefully it’s better luck third time around!
Tickets for the Galileo Open Air Cinema are available at Webtickets.

I could literally run you over with the amount of jealousy I have right now! OMW I love outdoor screenings and we’ll literally have to wait until my future kid has a kid in order for Nelspruit to catch up! Sorry you guys did not get through it but I’d be totally excited to go again! haha!! xx Great post!
Living in Cape Town is both a blessing and a curse because there’s sooo much to see and do but the budget simply won’t allow everything! Oh and btw we’re going for our third attempt tonight so hold thumbs ;-)
I would love to go to an open air cinema. Reminds me of my childhood days :-)
Indeed it really does bring back fond memories of the old drive-in :-)
