Tired of the same old dining experience? Well then you’re in for a treat with the Nederburg Wine Estate Dinner of Discovery. Come taste your way through a three-course canapé-style food and wine pairing, first served blind-folded and then sighted. To add an extra dimension to the experience, the second and third courses are presented not only unseen, but also with the addition of evocative sounds. Definitely a culinary experience to add to your Cape Town restaurantsCape Town restaurants bucket list!
A Noble Night at Nederburg Wine Estate
We started our epicurean journey at The Manor at Nederburg for the ‘A Noble Night’ Dinner of Discovery with a welcoming glass of bubbly. Before immersing ourselves in the dinner experience, Nederburg Wine Estate winemaker Jamie Williams explained what they had in store for everyone with the Nederburg Noble Late Harvest being the star of the evening.
Sugar, Sugar by The Archies got our toes tapping and heads bopping while we tasted our first course. All I can say is, opinions and answers varied when the music stopped and the blindfolds were removed and there was a collective “ooooh” let out by everyone when the wines and dish was revealed! This fun interactive process carried on through the rest of our Dinner of Discovery experience and made the evening all the more memorable.
The Nederburg Dinner of Discovery Series is Hitting the Road
So where can you join in on the Nederburg Wine Estate Dinner of Discovery fun?
Marguerite Beukes, Nederburg Wine Estate brand manager, explains: “This is the second year in a row we’d presented our Dinner of Discovery Series at top restaurants in the Tshwane metropole, with sold-out dinners across the board. We’re now going national, showcasing our delicious wines – widely available and lesser-known gems – as well as our fabulous team, as we make our way to some of our favourite places in the country!
“The series involves two distinct activations, both offering a tantalising exploration of taste. Our classic ‘wine-and-dines’ give wine lovers the chance to savour a variety of our offerings, from full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon all the way to lighter styled wines like our Grenache Carignan Rosé, paired with the most inventive dishes from the kitchens of our partner restaurants.”
“Then there’s our very innovative sensory experience, exclusively presented at The Manor restaurant at our home in Paarl, recently voted South Africa’s best restaurant by the public during Restaurant Week South Africa XXL, and selected other venues as part of the roadshow.
The entire Nederburg team will be represented during the run of events, from June until November.
